Hi
a friend of mine can't boot his computer without the windows cd in the tray..
i'm thinking that he doesn't have the sys files on "C" .. i know there is a dos command that will copy it from a boot disk instead of me haveing him move the files himself..

can someone tell me what the dos command is?

THANKS

SYS c:

You need a boot floppy with the right OS version for this to work.
The simplest thing would be to have your friend create a boot disk from his OS, then boot on it and use the SYS command.

I'm just wondering one thing : how on Earth did your friend get Windows installed on a non-bootable partition without making it bootable ?

BTW, are you sure the partition is active ? Maybe that is the problem.

Pascal.

thanks for the response pmonett

he did just format.i don't have a clue what he did,i didn't think you could install windows on a non active partition..
i tought him to fdisk then just boot from cd and the cd takes over from there..

i will tell him to try to copy sys files from floppy.

THANKS AGAIN!
