I want to boot from the cdrom drive to install windows 98. I went into the bios and I dont see the cdrom drive. I can boot from a floppy and I even try to format the c: drive and it gives me "invalid drive specification".
please help.

Before we get to the Cd rom drive concern, Is there an active partition set up on your hard drive ?
You can't format unless the drive is partitioned and one of the partitiones is set active .

boot to the floppy, type Fdisk after the A prompt, then select partition info, I think it's #4, and see what it says.

Remove the partition and start over. Something is wrong and you need to fix that first. Does your bios have a setting for boot order? Make sure the cdrom is there before the hd in the boot order.

goto and download the win98 bootdisk. Use that disk to boot, fdisk and format your harddrive!

As for the cdrom check to make sure all your cables are connected and settings are correct for your setup. If still no success then discribe everything, include the IDE and master slave setting for your drives!

Cheers
