I set up an active directory domain on a windows 2003 server and joined it with a Win XP Pro machine. When I try to add the domain user to the Admin group of the local machine I can't get a list of users from the domain. Taking the machine off and on the domain didn't work. And using DomainName\User didn't work either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need DNS working properly to "talk" to active directory. I would check to make sure that the client is pointing to your Windows 2003 server for DNS (and not to your ISP). Then retry...sound like a communication issue.

You did the right steps as far as I can see...
