Can't access some attachments

Our prez has the Outlook 2k SP2 update and is currently at Outlook 9.0.0.4527. He can no longer access attachments. I can however receive and access the same file into my Outlook which is at v 9.0.0.3821. I have an Attachment Security button while he does not. Now why would I update my Outlook if I will be unable to access some attachments??? This particular one is an Access database of all things!!!!!!! I am searching the knowledgbase as we speak. If anyone has tips for me, please let me know. Thanks all!!

Try upgrading to SP3. I never upgraded to the version in question, but I can verify, at least on my system, that SP3 does allow attachments to be opened. It should bring Outlook to at least 9.0.0.6627. As for a fix to the attachment problem in his current version, it looks like MS added security in SP2 and later that doesn't allow attachments to be downloaded with certain extensions deemed to be unsafe, .mdb files included. Go to the following URL for a fix to the registry and it should help with the problem.

I don't know goodfela26. I just installed this version and I cannot access certain attachments any longer with no options anywhere in Options to change that. This is really prompting me to continue Groupwise research, or Outlook Express using POP. Other tips that could help me??

Heh, sorry. I forgot to include the URL I was talking about. It includes a registry entry that should enable any attachment that you specify. I don't have a list of extensions currently, but I do know it won't allow .exe, .com, and .mdb. Here's the URL:

Alright!!! this is great. Thank you. If it's one thing I can't stand is people (MS) thinking they know what is good for you and what isn't. I realize certain attachments are bad and that is fine. That's why I have McAfee up to date. Anyway, thank you again!!

Well, you NEED SP3 for either the registry edit or the AO program to work. I just tested it on the Prez's PC that has SP1 and neither worked. I need to update to SP3, then run either of these options. I did this on my computer and it worked as expected.
