I use WinXP. These days I am not able to open sites like mail.yahoo.com, etc and also my corporate e-mail website.
The best thing is I am able to ping those websites (mail.yahoo.com, gmail.com, etc).

I use wireless/Wifi to access internet.

Windows Firewall is OFF.

I have Norton Internet Security but it is disabled because the subscription expired...

What could be the reason for the problem?
Appreciate your suggestion/advise....

Thanks!
Zib

Are those the only sites that you cannot access?

Those are the ones I tried. I think there are others which I can't

Are you using any corporate proxy? It may be blicking addresses with the word "mail" inside. Try using the numerical IP to access.

Cheers,
Dian

Your ISP DNS having issues? one thing you could try is to flush your DNS reslover cache manually, at the command prompt type IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS

You have no firewall at all? Please enable the XP firewall immediately.

Download and apply the trial:
If Service Pack 2 is installed:
Start, Run, CMD

netsh winsock reset

Wait for a prompt to restart your computer. Reboot.

Now check the Date and Time of your computer to make sure the settings are accurate.

Finally, start IE. You want to be sure you allow cookies from these secure/email sites:
