I have recently installed a Canon CanoScan LiDE 20. I get an error message before the software will run. It has also caused a fatal exception during a couple of installs. It is, however, working well, once the error message is acknowledged by clicking "OK". I downloaded deldrv.exe from the Canon website at their suggestion and reinstalled the software with the same results.

Message:
One of the library files need to run this application cannot be found.
c:\Projects\Lego Type\Driver\Debug\Driver.dll

Customer service couldn't help -- their suggestion after several unsuccessful attempts, while on the telephone, was to reformat, and reinstall Windows, which I really don't want to do. I did have a virus recently, which was successfully removed and the tech's opinion is that it has to be my system. I don't understand how software from other manufacturers eg. digital cameras, HP printers, external drives, would install so easily if the problem is my system. My antivirus was disabled during the install. I use Windows 98 -- 2.

Is the missing file/directory Windows or Canon?

If this can be solved, I know I'll find the answer here.

Where to look is in that error: c:\Projects\Lego Type\Driver\Debug\Driver.dll

What is in this directory? Did some software install into it? Find out what it is and reinstall it. It sounds like the program which integrates with the scanner. This is not a Windows default directory, nor is it a normal software install directory. Most programs install into c:\program files\(something)
What are you clicking on that generates this error?

What awful advice!!! Do not reformat for this! I can't believe the terrible state of service out there!!

Reinstall, then uninstall the LEGO software that came with the scanner/printer. Cheers,
Jim

I have neither Lego software, nor a folder called Projects. I can find nothing of this name on the Canon CD. I'll keep on looking. Thanks for replying.
