Cannot uncheck mute button in volume control

Hi,

I have an audigy and a labtec microphone (which doesn't seem to have a mute button).

I put the microphone into the socket today (both pink) and when I load volume control I can check/uncheck the microphone mute in "play control", but I cannot uncheck mute in the "recording control". Any ideas why this and how I can resolve?

See if there are updated drivers for your Sound Card.

Are there on/off buttons on the mike?

Is there any Speech Recognition software on your machine that maybe has settings which apply to the microphone?

You can have a look at this semi-related link and see if anything suggested in that helps, especially running SFC /Scannow?
