I am running both 5.0 and 6.5 on my PC and keep getting the error message, cannot locate resource directory. Then I can go no further on Pagemaker 6.5.
TMart...I tried Len's recommendation [answering from U.K. in another PageMaker Tech Support forum]about reducing number of Fonts without effect.
Here's how I stumbled into a good fix:
Go to Windows..click on Help. Type in "troubleshoot" and..go to "I receive the following error message: Display Problems." Click the front of this message [mark circle] then go the bottom of page and Click on "Next."
If your PC is already set at 256 Colors..Click on "No", Cick "Next," [follow instructions carefully]..
Click on Start," point to "Settings,"
Cick "Control Panel" and double click on "Display."
Click the "Settings" tab and then Cick on "Advanced."
At the "Performance" tab click the slider bar to lower the "Hardware Acceleration" setting to "None."
Choose OK, and then "Reboot your PC."
This solved the problem for me and I was able to open Page Maker 6.5+ without further difficulty. However, if my instructions are too hard to follow--just use the Help Screen, go slowly and follow the suggested steps.
