Cannot send Word document as attachment

I am using MS Office 2000. I recently installed an update and now I cannot send documents from Word as attachments. The "Mail as attachment" box is checked in options but when I go to file, send, sending as an attachment is not an option. How do I get the option back?

You are trying to do this in Word, right? Is your document protected? You might have to use Outlook to send this rather than Word.
