Hey Gang:

I'm having a problem with email delivery to one site. Whenever an email is sent, it gets stuck in the SMTP Virtual Server Queue. I've tried forcing the connection, but it's still a problem. I believe the other site is blocking our domain, but I'm not 100% sure. The tech at the other site said he scanned his firewall for incoming from my domain and has found nother. My ISP said it's probably on the recipient site's side. I'm at a total loss. Is there anything I can do to ensure it's not on my side?

Many thanks,

jocasio

What version of Exchange are you using? 5.5 left relay open by default. If you are using 5.5 or have upgraded to 5.5, you may have open relay enabled and been blacklisted. You can check your domain/ip address at several sites to see if you have been. Here are a few:

If you installed a clean 2000, though, this should not be the problem. 2000 disables open relay by default. One word of note, if you use any of these services and you are an open relay, you'll be added to their blacklists, so be sure you're locked down before using them.

This is a Microsoft paper on locking down your server if this is the issue:

All:

Thanks for the input. The problem was my client changed the ip address of the server to one that was on a static route on my end. So every time I tried to access send an email, it went through my point to point wheich was blocked on the other end.

I tried to telnet to their smpt server and it failed, leading me to understand that it was their side.

Thanks for the help
