cannot select text

I have created some pages in Dreamweaver. The pages contain tables, but no frames and no layers. The pages have some javascripting to do rollover image swaps and to open smaller pop-up windows.

The text on the pages cannot be selected in either browser. Why is this and how can I revise them so that text can be selected and copied from the browser?

The text is selecting fine in IE...which is what I am using right now at work. I just clicked and dragged over the text...selected copy and it worked great as you can see below.

[1] Nonviolent drug possession offense

The terms, drug treatment and drug treatment program, are the same and mean a licensed or certified community drug treatment program, which may include one or more of the following [Pen C §1210(b)]:

Outpatient treatment
Half-way house treatment
Narcotic replacement therapy
Drug education or prevention courses, or
Limited inpatient or residential treatment to address special detox or relapse situations or severe dependence.
Drug treatment programs offered in a prison or jail facility do not qualify. [Pen C § 1210(b)]

[3] Successful completion of treatment

Successful completion of treatment means that a defendant has completed the prescribed course of drug treatment and as a result there is reasonable cause to believe that the defendant will not abuse controlled substances in the future. [Pen C §1210(c)]



[4] Misdemeanor not related to the use of drugs

A misdemeanor not related to the use of drugs means a misdemeanor that does not involve [Pen C §1210(d)]:

Simple possession or use of drugs or drug paraphernalia,
Being present where drugs are used,
Failing to register as a drug offender, or
Any activity similar to possession or use of drugs.

Well, then, I'm half-way there!
I do not have an internet connection for IE at work, so I must have just assumed that the selection was not working in IE. It definitely does not work in Netscape 4.7. (Netscape is also the problem browser for that anchor tag problem -- same project, in fact.)

Well, I tested it in IE 4x NS 4x and 6x and from what I saw it is either the fact that it is a template and netscape 4.x and below dont quite know how to handle them or it is CSS. I didn't do any testing with it but if you want NS users of 4.x and below to cut and paste your text you might want to take a look into those two things. Thats about the only reasons I could think that it wouldn't work. Dreamweaver is great but sometimes I feel it was created for IE users and not netscape users =).

I tried &quot;detaching&quot; the page from the template, but it still does not allow text selection in Netscape 4.7. It does not contain any CSS. It really does not matter that much that users cannot copy text, but I don't want to upset the user, either.
