cannot ping yahoo.com 2

this is the senario......
im behind a wireless router, one hardwired and two wireless...
one of the wireless computer is not working...its runnning in windows ME....
i launch the internet explorer...page cannot be displayed
i tried to see if i can ping the router...0% loss
i tried to ping the yahoo IP (66.218.71.85...0% loss
i tried to ping the yahoo.com--unknown host
tried to set the computer to static IP...i set the DNS to static too...i got the DNS number from my router....
i tried again the same thing...can ping the yahoo IP...but cant ping the yahoo.com....i tried to uninstall and then reinstall the TCP/IP....set static...tried to ping yahoo.com...still same thing...
hope you could help me!!!

Eihtur,

If you can ping the IP address of Yahoo, but not Yahoo.com by then, then you have a DNS problem.

If I read the post correctly, you have one wireless computer that is able to correctly access the Internet, right? Do an Ipconfig /all on that machine, is it using the same DNS server as the PC that cannot ping Yahoo.com by name?

Patty is correct. I had a heck of a time getting my wireless set up. Have you tried a different dns number? I assume someone is getting you onto the internet either msn, or a cable modem. I'm using our local cable company, and what I did was for my wireless, I used there dns numbers and the gateway is my desktop which is connected to the cable modem and wireless router. Good luck. hi people...thanks for the reply...i already set the static DNS on my computer..i got that DNS number from my router...so its coming from my DNS server...still same thing..still when i try to ping the yahoo.com...im really lost...thanks for the help....
