We can ping all our WS's in Domain but cannot map to many of them. It seems to be sporadic, can map one day but not the next day. Any ideas?

I've found several mentions of this type of problem recently and it's been traced back to one of the February Microsoft hotfixes for XP. MS05-011 (885250) seems to be the culprit in these cases. Try removing the hotfix and see if the problem is resolved.
I've seen enough mention of this already to think a revision of this patch will be on the way soon. Please note that this patch protects against a remote code execution vulnerability. I would suggest taking other steps to mitigate this vulnerability in the event your rollback this patch. Microsoft has mitigation suggestions in the "Vulnerability Details" section of the following bulletin:
