cannot join domain

hello folks

I am having problem with my workstations which cannot be added to a newly created domain on win2k server
DNS has also been configured properly

when i try to add it says "The network name cannot be found"

can any body tell me whats wrong?
and whats solution

The workstations can ping the server? They are looking to the server for DNS? What is your Domain name? If it is a .local, leave off the .local and put only the Domain itself...
