I have a windows 2000 Pro machine and am trying to join a domain on a windows 2000 Server machine (set up as a PDC). When I try to change from a workgroup to domain, I get a username/password box, and enter the administrator account, and then I get an error: Network Path not found.

I am able to ping the server, and can even browse the network and see the other machine and view files on the server, but still cannot join the domain. Any Ideas?

You cannot setup a W2K server as a PDC without an active directory. You can only set it up in a netwok share enviornment (workgroup) without an AD or an NT Server as a PDC.

I did have to set up active directory to make the Win 2000 Server a PDC. I do not know much about active directory, but did install it. (maybe not correctly) Is there anything in active directory that I need to specifically set up?
