I have a developer who is using Win2k Server on his desktop. He ran Microsoft's Anti-spyware program and found something like 24 instances of spyware. Without reviewing the results of his scans, he deleted all the spyware. Now, he is unable to logon to our domain. He said he uninstalled and reinstalled his NIC drivers. That didn't help, so he took himself out of our domain. Now, he is unable to rejoin the domain. His machince is setup to get IP addresses automatically, we do have 3 DNS servers and have DHCP configured throughout our organization. Is there anything I can do to get him back into our domain without having to redo his entire computer from stratch? Please help if possible!

My first thoughts would be to check the NIC card. For example is showing Network Conenctions? Does it state it is connected? Can you packets come in and out? Have you tried the repair button?

I was able to resolve this issue. I uninstalled the TCP/IP stack, did not reboot right away, deleted WinSock & WinSock2 from the registry, then rebooted. Then I went back in and reinstalled my TCP/IP stack, which recreated the WinSock &WinSock2 files in the registry. That seemed to have repaired whatever it was that wasn't working right. Thanks for all your help anyway.

Unfortunately, some spy-/ad-ware programs take control of WinSock so when they are removed, they tend to trash your network connection as you found out. You did the right thing.

Now you need to make sure the spy-/ad-ware doesn't come back.
