Hi to all! OK...stumpped big time. Installing an HP 6110 all in one machine. XP tries to install it twice, first round installs it fine, works fine, then you get the infamous "cannot install this hardware". Now, I already tried the usual:

1)Replace driver.cab
2)Delete / restart
3)Manually add (add a printer)
and a few other things, including reg hacking. Still comes up as "cannot install this hardware" after all that (and the initial install is working fine). Replaceing driver.cab was the only real "fix" I found on the net. Any ideas to help this out? Thanks!

Check Device Manager. Are any problems reported? How is the printer connected to the machine?

Hi guys,

Printer is connected via USB. I will be checking the event viewer for some clues. I had this same problem with the 6110 before and all of a sudden (tried nothing different), the problem stopped. Go figure. Will let you know how I make out. Thanks!

I had this problem with a Brother "All in one". I had a conflict with the USB ports. Everytime I re-booted, the computer wouldn't see the printer and re-install it. After three re-installs, the computer wouldn't install for the fourth instance. How crude! I finally cleared the USB problem, rebooted, and the computer installed the printer. No problems since. Make sure you un-install the printer between tries.

Hi there,
I have a problem installing my DVD Burner Nec ND-2500A.
I have plugged it as an external driver, put the driver in a powered box.Linked to my Laptop Dell smartpc 250N, by a USB2 from the box to the USB1(computer).
P4 2.4GHZ, 512 RAM, XP PRO SP2.
Tried different USB plugs without success.even mu camera.Even tried tru a Hub.
Used to work, it does not work since I have reformatted my HD and Installed SP2 straight away.
When I plug the USB, the installation wizard starts and look for the driver, system call the device ATAPI-6 Bridge controller , and comes up saying: cannot install your hardware.......( see PDF, attached doc).
tried to let the system search on the net to find a driver but nothing.
Is there a driver that I could use to get this device recognized???

thank you very much for your help
