Hello,

I'm running a windows 2000 dhcp server and am getting 'scoep 91% full with 9 addresses remaining'. Increasing the scope range from properties of the scope and restarting dhcp service has no affect. Can someone tell me how I increase the dhcp scope? thanks.

can you give us details of your scope?
from/to range, exclusions, subnet mask etc...

the current range is set to 192.168.225.150 - 192.168.225.250 (this is what i've increased it to)
exclusion - 192.168.225.200. no reservations.
scope options: 002 (ms release dhcp etc) 003 (router) 006 (dns) 044 and 046

compare your 'leases' database to your dns hosts database, see if you have all the PCs in your network only once, and no others that shouldn't be there.

you on default 8 day lease duration too?

that is the case. the range was previously .201 to .250 then I increased it, so it was .150 - .250 with .200 excluded. ever since then 1 pc obtained a 192.168.225.150 address and the remaning pcs are on the addresses .201 and above. I just can't work out why dhcp thinks only 9 addresses remaining. (lease is 8 days)

in this case, i'd delete the scope and recreate it with the range you want, and your exclusion.

clients will attempt to reregister their old ip address, so it may take time to fill up the <.200 leases...

something got a bit messed up theremaybe...

your exclusion isnt blocking the 50 others is it?

one pc has picked up 192.168.225.150 do I don't think it is,
I think a clean out and rebuild of dhcp is inorder failing that...
