Cannot group in pivot table

I am trying to group a field and I get the error message "Cannot group that selection". It was working, then I refreshed the data and now I cannot re-group.

Any suggestions?

What kind of data are you trying to group?

Often when grouping a date field, non-date values, including blanks, will not permit grouping. So look for a value in that column that does not fit.
