Hi, when I double-click to start my database, I get the message "Cannot find the file 'C:\..... .mdb' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.
The database, however, has started and is just a window down.

When I start from a command line "msaccess c:\... .mdb", the message does not appear.
Thanks for any help...

Using Windows Explorer, find and then select your DB, right click on it, select Copy. Activate your desktop(go to your desktop), right click anywhere but not on an icon, select Paste Shortcut. Right click on the new shortcut, select Rename, edit this to what your DB is called.

Should work ok now.

Thanks, BillPower but it didn't work. Same message...

Appreciate any help...

Open any module of your database in design mode and check Tools, References for any MISSING libraries. Correct the paths of any broken references.

Also, if your MDB uses other Access databases (.mdb or .mde) in the References, make sure that any commonly used libraries point to the same location. For example, if you have a main program (called the CurrentDb) named MyAppMain.mdb, and it references a subprogram (called a CodeDb) named MyAppSub.mde, and they both reference a common library program (another CodeDb) named MyAppLib.mde, both references to MyAppLib.mde need to point to the same location.

I don't show any "MISSING" libraries. The database is split into front and back ends.
If I simply open access and then File|Open & surf to my .mdb file, no complaints. Also, even after the error message, the database seems OK.
In references, there are no "CodeDb's".

Thanks again...

One final stab at this or I think you must have an OS problem.

In windows explorer, select TOOLS> FOLDER OPTIONS, if "Hide file extensions for known file types" is checked then in the properties window of your shortcut try removing the .mdb from the target. ie Target "c:\my documents\mydatabase" without an extension.

When you double click the front end (or shortcut to the front end) are you being placed in a workgroup file that may have been moved or renamed? Have you refreshed the link between your two databases?

Thanks BillPower,
I think you may be right about it being an OS problem. I don't have "Hide extensions for known... " checked.
& Thanks also annsolomon, I'm not using Access security, so if you mean the .mdw, I don't believe that's the issue. However, our network WAS recently reorganized so you may have set me off on a new track 8->
Thanks all...
