Cannot find PC by typing in Name in address bar

Can anybody help? I have been using the VPN built into win XP to connet to my office pc from home, everything worked fine & I was able to see the files on the PC either by typing in to the address bar of explorer the IP address of my office PC (192.168.2.3) or the name (e.g \\DELL2).
I have purchased a new Pc for home use & set it up exactly the same as my old one & I can still access my Office pc by typing in the IP address but it will no longer work by typing the computer name in the address bar!!
Has anybody got any ideas??
