Cannot filter on object with type of Long Text

I have an object in our universe where the type is Long Text. We are using sql server 2005 and the data type of the field is text. When creating a report and attempting to filter on one of these objects we get an error stating:
"The following objects cannot be used in query filters: Description. See your BusinessObjects administrator. (Error: WIS 00018). Does anyone have any ideas on how we can filter using this object?

For every universe object there is a setting (universe) whether such an object can be used in a filter. The default is 'on', but quite possibly it is set to 'off' by the designer/administrator.

Thanks for the information but do you know where this setting is? Is it in one of the prm files? Is it one of the parameters for the universe? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's very strange that it would even let you try to put it in the filter box.

But.....The setting in question is a property of the object in the universe. It's not a system wide setting that prevents you from using text objects.

I would argue that performance will be terrible if you try to filter on a text object, but that's another story.

We want to use filtering for a matches pattern for a canned report. Which object setting would this be, can you point me to the specific one?

Well, as both Steve and I pointed out it is a property-setting of the object as defined in the universe.
Please do not ask us to go into further detail...
Consult the universe designer or your BO administrator (depending on how your shop is run)
