I'm trying to delete some Adobe Illustrator files from my recycle bin and am getting a message saying they are in use and they're not. No other programs are open.

In searching this board for the problem I came across a problem that is identical, with the error message being the same. Here is the thread number: thread779-566271

I've tried removing the files in safe mode and through the DOS emulator and in DOS I get the same message. Is there a tool or other method out there that can delete these files from the recycle bin, perhaps on a reboot?

Thanks,
JFG

I would attempt to restore the files first and then do a permanent delete by holding down the shift key while deleting.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

Do you have Norton protecting files in the recycle bin and preventing their deletion? Norton will not allowing you to delete a specific file if the original path from where that file came from was deleted. Turn off Norton protection on the recycle bin and try that.

DelLater is a program you can try.
