Cannot connect to internet! 1

I am trying to help a friend. I have his computer xp home and cannot connect to the internet. I ran cwshredder first, then repaired ie with linneys helpful post, and ran /scannow. This is where I am at. I can ping both host and ip addresses across lan and wan but cannot open IE. Says page cannot be displayed. Is there anything I am missing as far as trying to correct this before editing the registry or doing a full restore. Thanks Guys!
