I just installed XP SP1 and I cannot connect to the Internet with IE 6. The network card is properly configured. I can ping the router and I can ping any web site in DOS. I can ping localhost. I have ADSL with a Linksys router/switch. I can get email over the Internet. I can download from Norton. But I cannot get IE 6 to work. I cannot get any IP address to work in IE. I configured the connection setting to automatically detect. I am sending this post with another computer. What is wrong??

You could try reregistering these Dll's to see if it makes any difference.
Run each of the following from start/run:

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

How to Reinstall or Repair Internet Explorer and Outlook Express in Windows XP (Q318378)

From web.
"The ability to Repair Internet Explorer does not exist in the version that ships with Windows XP. This feature only becomes available after you upgrade to a newer version. This is normal and has been this way since Windows 98 and IE4. However, you can reinstall IE in Windows XP by clicking Start, Run and entering the following command:

rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:\windows\inf\ie.inf

You will need to have your XP CD available

I learned using SFC /Scannow at the command prompt will help in repairing IE."
