I just configured a WIN2K SBS. Created client disk and tried to setup first machine on the network. I am unable to connect to the server, or ping the server. DHCP is working however. I can do a release and renew and get valid address, gateway and dns server addresses. If I ping from the server to the client I get destination host unreachable. If I ping from the client to the server I get request timed out. I know ehternet adapter is good as this machine workes fine in stand alone workgroup. Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Mitchel

For your case, unreachable means your server ip and the scope of your dhcp is not on the same network(subnet). If you're confused do as Blin said, he'll take it from there:).

Have you tried pinging the IP of the server? not name?
maybe its DNS issue... and so the client cant reach the server.

I got things to work by reserving an IP address for the machine in the higher numbers. Seems to be IP address conflict. Perhaps with setup of remote access addresses? Not sure. Does anyone know how I can check this out. Again WIN2K SBS, running ISA server, routing and remote access, DHCP etc.

Thanks
