Cannot connect 2 3com 3300's via x-over cable

I cannot get a led light from either switch when I try to stack them via crossover cable. I have the cable plugged in right ports. I get lights with the workstations on both switches. Any suggestions?

As far as I know, you can use a straight-through cable. One end goes into any open port on your active switch and the other end goes into the uplink port on the second switch.
