cannot change from mixed mode to native

I can not change my 2003 exchange admin group from mixed to native, There are no 5.5 servers on the network but the option is greyed out.
Any ideas?

Are you logged on as the Exchange admin?

I'm Certifiable, not cert-ified.

Are you just doing this or are you also upgrading Exchange at the same time? If the latter, you need to extend the schema first.
