cannot adjust Acer AL2017 LCD monitor 1

I just bought an Acer AL2017 and cannot make changes to the settings. When I use the controls at the bottom of the screen, the < and > just rotates from one setting menu to another.

Across the bottom of the monitor are buttons for (l to r) Auto, <, >, Menu, OFF-On.

I thought that this monitor would behave like most of my other ones. When I select a setting like contrast, the < and > would move the setting for me.

After selecting a function to be adjusted with the < > buttons, press the Menu button again, and then adjust the function.
