Hi all,

I used to have my web page host by a web hosting company. Since I have installed AD, DNS on my new w2k server, XP pros machine cannot access the web page. I found the DNS is pointing to the w2k server, which is used for the authenicating purpose for all XP machines. However, if I change the DNS to my ISP DNS server address, I can access it but all the XP machines will be very slow when they authicate with the w2k server.

Anyone out there has any ideas how to resolve this? Thanks

Is your AD setup with the same domain name as your webpage on the external hosting company?

If so you will need to add a record into DNS for the domain to resolve to the external IP of your website.

All your XP clients should point to your local server for DNS if it doesnt the it can cause extra long login times.

Control Panel > Admin Tools > DNS > Forward Lookup Zones > Goto the correct zone for your domain > Right click > New Host(A) > put 1st box then then IP of the external webserver in the IP address box.
