We're setting up a machine and suddenly it starts doing this.. anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this or why it might happen?

# lsdev -C
lsdev: 0514-518 Cannot access the PdDv object class in the device
configuration database.

PdDv contains predefined devices. Is your ODMDIR variable set? In /etc/environment it is set to /etc/objrepos. Also, do the /etc/objrepos and /usr/lib/objrepos exist, along with the classes? /etc/methods and /usr/share/lib/objrepos database files and programs or methods in their respective paths.

I'll check. I think this problem may be cropping up after we install ML5 to AIX 5.2. Before we do that, no problems. After we do that and reboot, we get the above. Investigating further..

Is it a standalone server (E.G. not hacmp or Hageo)?

I just found out the guy installing the ML upgrade did so using ML5 that is meant to be installed if you're running 5.2 base (no ML). The server had ML1 on it already and thus was not at base. He did not use the ML1 to ML5 upgrade.

Would the above cause this problem?

Yes it's a stand alone server.. installed from scratch using CD's (5.2 ML1).

Well so much for that idea.. installing ML1 to ML5 upgrade also didn't work. Still have the problem.

kHz - i see all the files/directories you're asking about. No issues there as far as i can see..
