I have configured an Active Directory domain with the same name as our company website. I can access the company website just fine outside of our network. However, I cannot access the website from within the internal network. I have seen similar forum questions on this topic, but I have had no luck so far. I created an Alias using www, pointing to our hosting companies name server, but it still cannot resolve the name. I would appreciate any suggestions on this issue. By the way, I am running a single Windows 2000 Server with Ad, DHCP, and DNS. All other websites are resolving just fine through our DNS.

Go to start --> Programs --> Administrator tools --> DNS.
Expand forward lookup zones. Expand Your domain. Right click on your domain and select create a new host. Name the host enter your websites local IP addy. Click OK and close. Go to a workstation and open a command prompt. Type in ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter. Open IE and enter your websites name.

Read the post! He said his company's website is being hosted. So what IP is his websites local IP addy? The answer is: there is none, its being hosted!

Thank you to everyone for helping me out with this. I was able to resolve this issue by creating a Host Record using pointing it to our company website. Fortunately, the hosted website does have a static IP address, so this worked out nicely. I also found out that I could have also used an Alias within DNS and pointed this to the actual web server that is hosting the site, in case the IP was dynamic. I have seen other posts on this topic, so it was a good learning exercise. Thanks again.
