I have a small network of 4 peer-to-peer pcs running XP and Office 2000. Is there an easy way of sharing the calendar in Outlook 2000? I would like to have each member of staff enter appointments on their pc and all the other pcs have the same information. If it can be done, can the same be done with the Contacts section? As we all ahve individual e-mail accounts I would rather keep this part separate. Any help will be appreciated.

A simple way in your case, would be to set up another (dummy) account and give everyone else full permission to that Calendar and Contacts. Once that is done you can make the Calendar/Contact appear on each user's folder list, but it's so long since I did it I can't remember how. I suspect someone on the forum would be able to help, but if you're desparate come back to me.

Ray you can create a contact list, calendar and any other folder you wish on your machine and give everyone permission to use it. Basically right click on your folder list and choose "New Folder", then slecet the type of item you want it to be by selecting it from the "Folder Contains" drop down list. Ensure to name it something that will id it easily. Once you have the folders created, right click on each one and you give the other users permissions to use the item.

Let me know if this does not work for you.

We use netfolders to share contacts and calendar between the president and his receptionist.

Thanks to you all for your help so far.
I have set up a new calendar folder and shared it. Each member was sent and has accepted the invitations. However updates are not being applied. Sometimes the update goes out without any problems, get to the other pcs and then just disappears. Sometomes I get this error message "Net Folders is unable to send out updates to your folders due to an error. One probable cause is that you have exceeded your server quota. If this continues to be a problem, please speak with your network administrator."

Any ideas? Thanks

make sure everyone is using internet mail - and not the corporate email install - even the corporate install using internet email does not work.

Also the calendar cannot be passworded.

Thanks for the suggestion. We need to keep to the corporate/workgroup configuration. I would have thought that coporate users would be more likely to share diaries that internet only users. Perhaps there is another way?

Not using netfolders.

Ran into this problem myself. According to - boy I'm trying to remember the name, but if you do a google search under netfolders, i'm sure it'll come up. Its like slipstick or something.

Yup, heres the link

I followed their recommendations with corporate/workgroup to zero success (they in fact mention - well basically that its a long shot).

Heres another link for further info:

At anyrate, theres a third party outfit called 4Team, that has what looks to be a really really good product to accomplish the netfolders tasks. But there is a limit - for the moment (at least a couple months) they only support Outlook2002.
(Microsoft got rid of netfolders in 2k2)

Thanks for all your suggestions.

I've tried them all and I guess it back to the old technology--- pens and paper!!!

Here's one suggestion for you, you can have an add in called multi-calendar which basically lets you see up to 6 different calendars from the same window, that way each person could keep there own calendar up to date whilst everyone else could still see there movements. May be worth a try, I have added the web page address at the bottom.
