We are looking for a more user friendly query tool for Oracle 8. We have some users who currently feel that the SQL worksheet and SQL plus80 are not easy to use. The main complaint is that when using SQL worksheet they are not able to stop a long running query quickly. We do not want these users to be able to modify database structure at all, just be able to query the database. I have found applications that will allow a user to manage all aspects of the database, but we definitely don't want to grant these users that ability.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Oracle Discoverer. [3eyes]

Business Objects is the most user friendly I have tried, although it is not cheap.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

TOAD and SQL Navigator are good, except that Discoverer and Business Objects can do Pivot tables and drill-downs.

But doesn't Discoverer also require additional administration as well as the development of an EUL?

Yes, Discoverer (as well as BusinessObjects) requires certain set-up, but once done, It's amazing what they can do with a click of the mouse. [shadeshappy]
