We need to setup some complaint/general mailboxes
but dont want them showing up in the Global Address list
can this be done so the mailboxes still recieve mail
while being hidden ??

thanks Gang !!!!!!

Absolutely. Hiding them from the GAL will not prevent them from receiving mail.

quick ?
what is the easiest/fastest way to setup only a mailbox enabled email ??
these are going to be general mailboxes for each dept
for customers to email complaints/questions etc.....

do i have to setup a New User/Contact/Group ???
Thanks Lander

BTW>............

how/where do you set a particular user to be able to Send
as another mailbox ??

thanks

Pctekk,

Given what you say you want to do, the best option is probably to create several PFs and mail enable them. So you have dept1, dept2 etc and give them sensible SMTP addresses this will allow customers to mail in and you can add rules that will update the necessary people when a mail comes in.

With regards to setting send as rights, this is well documented in the MS KB, beware of behavioural changes though moving from SP3 to post SP3 (whether this be March or September fixes). Ultimately this is performed through ADUC and should be straight forward. When I have a server infront of me I can send the exact steps if you like..

HTH,
Mark

yes please, the steps would be helpful for the send as rights. thanks Mark

Right what you need to do is documented in the following article;

327000 HOW TO: Grant "Send As" and "Send on Behalf" Permissions in Exchange

NOTE: The two methods are different and in POST SP3 "Send AS" is altered!

Things to be aware of;

329622 'Send As' Permission Is Not Assigned to a User After You Delegate Access
