Is there any way to tell Networker what tape device (Example: c3t0d0BESTnb) you want the bootstrap backup to go to?

Yes, indirectly via pools. However, this device must be local at the NW server.

Thanks for the reply. I have a tape drive directly connected to the Networker server and had to use it the other day to recover from an old bootstrap tape (server is being used only for legacy restores). I would like to get a new bootstrap tape created, but the tape device is no longer in a jukebox/silo, so it is basically a stand alone tape device. I believe I need to add this device to the Networker config to be able to use it for bootstrap backups (all other restores are being done via a remote storage node). I have only added tape devices using jbconfig in the past. Can a stand alone tape drive be added? If so how?

Sure, no problem.

Start nwadmin, then open the window under Media - Devices. Enter the device ID and assign the correct type. That's it.
