Hi all,

Quite a nerdy question but one thats been bugging me.

Can you identify different machines in a XP workgroup by icon, i.e Desktop, Laptop, Server, Printer etc... ???

I'm sure I've seen workgroups elsewhere that have different icons for the different types of machine but I cannot figure out how to change them.

Thanks

Craig

I have never tried it, but you could with Third-Party utilies (Michaelangelo comes to mind) change the icon of a particular share type, and possibly the icon of a persistent share.

But natively, no.

hi, bcastner,

I did a google search for Michaelangelo but it turned up nothing... do you have a url?

Thanks

Craig

My bad:

Microangelo.
There are also others.
Note: these are worksation specific changes you could make; changing the icon on a share server or one using workstation will affect no one else.

Count me dubious that you can win the fight, but at least you have a start as to how to beat the OS to get what you want.
