i have a laptop that i use at work and thus a member of our work domain. i want to be a able to make this laptop a member of my home workgroup? what should i do? can windows xp be a member of a domain and a workgroup at the same time? is it easier if i change my home workgroup name to be the same as our work domain? will it work?

thanks in advance!

You can't be on both a domain and a workgroup.
It would be easier to just make your home workgroup name the same as your work domain name. Shouldn't hurt anything, and it should allow the computers to see each other easily.

I never really use the workgroup name at home. My PC's are set to static IP's and I share files between them by typing in the IP of the computer I want directly. Then it doesn't really matter if the workgroup names match or not. Or add the PC name and it's matching IP into your hosts file.

Anything useful in these two examples?
