Hi,

I am trying to restrict who can access my database's design view and code. I have a design view button in the sart up form to enter the design view. And it is only active with the correct log in password. In the Start Up menu, I have disabled all the Menu bars option so that the button is the only way to get into the design view.

However, that seems to disable me from accessing my code as well although I could enter my design view. How could I enable the full menu again? Or is there a better way of achieving my goal?

Thanks in advance for any useful hints.

1) Consider using Access's built in security.
2) if you release your database as an .MDE file, you will hide all objects (Forms, Reports, Modules, etc.) from your users (they are compiled)

beetee,
Thank you.
I wasn't allowed to compiled the database into .MDE file as was told by my manager. As it may make maintenance work too hard for them. Because I will be made redundant in two months time, and there will be nobody to do the maintenance job. I realised that using the built in security and password protection wasn't secured at all as it is easily crack into. However that seems to be the only option for minimum protection from corruption by the common users?

I have found out that to bypass the macro which loads switchboard or main menu that upon opening by holding down the Shift key before you open it. Then it will open to the database window and get access to the program code as well.

And if you forget to hold down the shift key, you can right-click on a blank area of the tool bar panel and select Startup... from the pop-up to get the Startup Dialog.
