We have a Dell Power Edge 4400 server. Windows NT Server installed successfully. The system reports no faults and appears to work beautifully.

However, when you connect it to the network we have a little problem. The new server can see the network, we can copy files from the server to the network however, we are unable to copy files from the network to the new server reliably. Sometimes you can copy files (small single files)successfully but most of the times we get the following error:

Cannot copy <file> - Error performing inpage operation

Has anyone experienced this problem before or can shed any light on this matter?

Any help would be appreciated- we have run out of ideas and are led to believe that this is a hardware problem.
What NIC are you using ?
I had the same problem once with a Realtek Chipset NIC.
I replaced the card with a 3com card and my problem was solved,
however I tried some other things too at that moment so I'm not sure
Peter Van Eeckhoutte
peter.ve@itinera.be

I have found something else :
I have a bad floppy, and when I try to copy a file from the floppy to the harddisk using the win2K explorer, I get the same error (Cannot copy <file> - Error performing inpage operation)
Maybe you should check the source harddisk... it might be damaged.
If small files copy OK, but larger ones are a problem, look into your
network communications. Specifically, see if any "collisions" are
occuring on the network cables.
David J. Aller
GoTech@GoTechnologiesInc.com
<a href= Computer Systems & Networking Services
I try to share some of my knowledge and experience with others, and also have picked-up many
tips from reading other postings.
If you have any questions or comments, please email.
