CAN not start Asp.net state service

Tried to start "asp.net State service" either throught the serice panel or command line, always got "the service is not responsing to the control function".
the .net framwork of v1.1.4322 and sp1 and 1.1 hotfix (KB886903) are installed. Aspx pages which doesn't need the state service are wroking fine.

Is there an EVENT ID (including source) in the EVENT VIEWER?
