I have the current configuration.

ATT DSL Router Speedstream connected to a Linksys WRT350N which connects to our switch were all our workstations and servers are located. The server is a SBS that distributes out IP configuration to all workstations that specified the server as the primary DNS server. The Server is specified to forward DNS to both OpenDNS Servers. It worked as expected for a year then suddenly I cann't query any DNS address outside the network from any workstation or server inside. I can query anything internal just fine. However I can ping anything outside if I know the address.

Then after about an hour of not working and not changing anything.. it will just start working again.

I have power cycled both the speedstream and the Linksys with no luck. If I bypass the linksys and use PPPoE on just one workstation it works just fine. Could it be that the router is having issues all of a sudden? It has the latest firmware.

Example:

ping support.dell.com
Ping request could not find host support.dell.com. Please check the name and try again.

ping 143.166.224.210

Have you checked the event logs to see if there are any problems with the DNS Service on your server?

Also have you performed the "simple query against this DNS server" and the "recursive query to other DNS server" ?

One last thought, have you tried enabling Debugging?

Let us know.

I enabled debugging and found out the following

RCODE 2 [SERVFAIL]

So I changed out Routers and made some nic configuration changes under the driver which seemed to fix the issues. I disabled anything on the driver that I didn't need.. i.e. QoS, Polling, etc..

So far so good. No issues as of yet and it has been in place for 24 hours.
