Hi,

The root passwd has changed on are ultra2 when at the Ok prompt I type boot -s for single user mode I still need a password even if I go via cntrl d.

Can I reset my root passwd with out having to rebuild the box.

Yes you can. A search of this forum will give you the procedure, but in essence, it is:
Boot from CD to single user mode
Mount the root partition
Edit /etc/shadow file (delele the 2nd field for root)
Reboot

I hope that helps.

Mike
