can not input punctuation

Hi im new here,
i just wondering why i can not input "'" in quarkxpress.
eg. if i want to input "don't", i have to change it to "do not". because some very strange words would replace "'".
Is there someone can help me?

What happens when you type don't???

What font are you using?

Does the same thing happen with different fonts?

What OS are you running?

What version of Quark

hi,
im using 6.5(windows). the font im using is arial.
yeah. the same thing does happen with diffrent fonts.
if i input something like "i'm", a weird word will come out to replace"'" and the whole word becomes "i" and a weird character followed by "m". so i have to input "i am" can't input "i'm".

it looks like a chinese charecter i think.

Is it just the " ' " character or is it every other punctuation?

Have you deleted your Quark preferences?

no, i didn't delete prefernces.
it's just "'" character.

Can you delete your Preferences...
Then restart...
