Hi, everyone!
My son played Ragnarok Online on my computer. He installed it but I still have some files with strange names that I can't delete.
When I double click on any of these files I get a message: 'C:\games\... refers to a location that is unavailable'.
I tried to delete in DOS but couldn't either.
I appreciate any help.

I mean 'He uninstalled it..'

Try and do a windows search of the file, take note of the location(s) where they are, and delete from there.

Why would you double-click on a file if you want to delete it? Sounds like you are clicking on an icon, not the file itself. In any case, left-click once to get it highlighted then right-click and select delete. Any help?

Actually they have folder icons and names like êè?YîUÅÇ or _ÇîîÅÇ~1. When I use killbox message says: 'This file does not seem to exist'. But they exist! I think because of these strange symbols in there names Windows can't read them and can't delete them. I can't rename them either. I get message saying " Cannot read from the source file or disk. But there's no problem with the disk.

Yes, I tried it right now and fix all entries.
But still the same...

Rootkitrevealer finds this folders and describes them as 'Hidden from Windows API'.

I run F-Secure BlackLight. Rezult: 'No hidden items found'.
It just found 33 processes not connected with the files I want to delete.
What else can I do except formatting the drive?

I rarely say this but yeah thats the only options left I can see. I hate saying format a computer but if you cant remove the rootkit nor get to the files that may be the only way. One last suggestion though

Go to my computer, right click on c: , left click on properties. Click the tools tab, Click check now, check both boxes, it will give a warning and say something like "chkdsk can not be run right now, do you wish to perform a scan next time you restart", tell it yes

Restart and run it.
