Hi all:
First, I'll explain my configuration, then the problem
1 Dell Server running Windows 2000 Server, ISA Server installed, acting as a proxy, linked to a router and a cable modem
1 Dell Server running Windows 2000 Server, acting as a domain controler, DNS service and DHCP installed. We are linked to our enterprise´s domain.
Computers running several Windows Flavors, NT, 2000, 98SE,95.
Problem:
I have no trouble configuring 2000, NT, 98SE computers to read mail through Outlook Express. For example, in a 98SE computer the configuration is as follows
In TCP/IP properties
IP ADDRESS IS STATIC, SAY 192.168.16.100
SUBNET MASK 255.255.255.0
WINS RESOLUTION DISABLED
INSTALLED GATEWAYS 192.168.16.5
&& THIS IS THE PROXY´S IP
192.168.16.1
&& THIS IS THE GATEWAY FOR THE && DOMAIN CONTROLLER
ACTIVATE DNS
HOST: computer1
DOMAIN domainname
&&the domain we belong to
DNS SEARCH ORDER
213.12.63.2 && THIS IS OUR ISP´S DNS
213.12.63.10 && OUR DNS´S SECONDARY DNS
192.168.16.3 && DOMAIN CONTROLLER´S IP,
&& WHICH IS CONFIGURED
&& TO ACT AS A DNS
I can configure any e-mail account in Outlook Express using this configuration in 98SE, however, I can not do the same in Windows 95 machines. However, this machines are able to browse the web, using 192.168.16.5:80 as a proxy.
What should be the right configuration for these machines? If it worked in 98SE, shouldn´t it be working in 95, since these are analogous configurations?
Thanks to all
