Can MSDE no longer be used with 2003 server?

I have an application that uses MSDE as its database. Now I am told that with 2003 Server, the program no longer installs MSDE -- instead I must purchase SQL at a much larger expense. Question, is this true. Can I not install MSDE on the 2003 server. If so, why not? Is there no replacement for MSDE for 2003 server, or can I still install the program -- only install it manually?

Sounds like your app installation has a problem with win2003.
