Menu can be placed on your form or on _screen but cannot be docked and undocked once created.
But you can popit or hide it and all these you will be aware.
But if you want to, creating a toolbar and using it fine and not that difficult.
PopUPs can be shown at different places. Even when you click on a menu pad and the related popup can be defined at different nRows,nCols and can be poped up. But you will loose the users understanding probably. WHat I mean to say is when you click on File Menu you dont want to see it at the help pad position though that is possible.
Tool barrs can be docked and undocked and can be moved to any place. They being always on top, we may have to move it around to get better visibility of desktop contents or if surface is not in demand, we can dock it and sacrifice few rows of the screen.
Try the outlook listbar class in Universal Thread download section. If you set it to show small icons, can be used as a dockable replacement for menus (but, like in outlook, only vertically).
