I have a rack of routers and would like to know if I can console to my 2512 and use it to then connect to the consoles of the other routers using the async lines?

I just want to know before I make myself too crazy. No there's really no reason other than I'd like to see if I can do it.

So, I set up the 2512, and plug the octal cable in and attach the serial lines to the console ports on the other routers......

Can it work?

Thanks.

its call reverse telnetting...

I have a 2511 doing this myself.

Well, I looked it up on the Cisco page.

I managed to get it almost working.

I can connect to my pix, but only once.

When I disconnect and retry I get the message that the device is refusing connection, the activity light on the async is going nuts, and that's it.

I plug into the pix and it spends a few minutes scrolling crap it was getting from the 2512....

It looks like the 2512 is spewing garbage at the pix's console port.

Hmmm....I'll keep banging on it :)

Thanks
