Dear all,

I use Symantec Antivirus Client - Managed with main Symantec Antivirus Server.

When I installed Symantec Antivirus Client at Windows 98, the icon of SAV does not appear at tray. Can I make it visible at tray?

Thank you in advance.

From the SSC, right click on the parent server, AntiVirus, All Tasks, Client Administrator Only option, Show icon.

The exact terms might be a little off, I'm not in front of a console here. But it should be close enough to get what you want.

Polimath5, I can not right click at Parent Server.

I use Symantec Antivirus Coorporate Edition and Client.

What should I do?

Thank's in advance.

You must have the SSC installed on what ever program you are attempting to control NAV from. Do you have the NAV SSE installed?

What is SSE ?
Where should I get it?

Thank's

It's located on one of the NAV CE installation CD's. I think it's Disk 1. Sorry, but I don't know if you download it from Symantec's website.

But you will need it to administer many of the settings in the NAV CE environment.

Just to be clear. You are trying to do this on a network? OR are have you just installed the CE client on the workstation and aren't in a network environment?

I installed it at network, so the client using SAV CE Client, and managed to SAV CE Server.

At SAV CE Server, the icon appear at tray, but at Client, the icon doesn't show at tray.

Well, I will look at the CD, and find what you mean about SSE.

Thank's

SSC is the Symantec System Console plug in for the Microsoft Management Console. I've only installed it on NT, 2K, or XP.

The SSE is installed on a workstation and/or the server. It is the central command for NAVCE. I have installed on the primary server and my workstation.

Once you get it installed, you will be able to do the selections I mentioned in my first reply.

If you go to Symantec's KB and look at document: 2002071510394148 it has the steps you need to install SAV and lists the CD locations of the various parts of the program. I know the doc is about upgrading, but if you ignore the Uninstall section, the rest should be the same.

I got the SSE at CD, but it can not installed at my server which running NT yet. So I have to upgrade IE with 5.5 but I don't have it. So I still looking for IE6.

I'll tell you the result...

Thank's

You can get IE6sp1 from MS, free download. But you will need to reboot the server after you install it, so do it when that's not a problem! Let me know if you run into any problems.

Yes, after I installed all over NT need such SP6a, IE6, and intalled SSC, I could show the icon at Win98 Client.

I also get a lot of tools from SSC, like scanning client from server, show which client can not load the update antivirus from server, and many more.

Thank you very much Polymath.

Yes indeed. A great deal of the advantage of having the Corp. Ed. of NAV, is from the SSC.

Glad I was able to help.
